The following video was produced by Israel Curiel as an analysis of the 40 plus images that were captured on the evening of May 12, 2012 at Lake Julian in Asheville NC. This is the second Skywatch at which MUFON-NC has had a sighting.  Because we believe that it is important to address both sides of the argument, I have also added analysis from The Aerial Phenomena Organization (  The APO thinks some of these are simply emerald lens flares. Some of the photos can be simple lens flares but some of the other photos do not have light sources that could have created them. We cannot say for sure either way. It seems perplexing  that in order for a lens flare to exist there must be a source of a bright light in the same picture. The object in question shows up in many shots where there is no other light source at all. None of the images have been modified. Feel free to download the original pictures from You can confirm that the photos have not been cropped and the object shows up in shots where there are no other light sources. The APO has decided to send one of their own investigators to Asheville to investigate further and to try to replicate the images. We have posted both analysis and leave it up to you, the viewer, to decide.

Also, we are in the middle of planning the next Meeting and Skywatch for Wilmington, NC in August or early September, so stay tuned.

If you or someone you know is a photo analyst expert, we welcome your comments below.

The MUFON NC team has identified a hot spot in North Carolina.  Fletcher, NC is just outside of Asheville and has had many reports of UFO sightings over the last couple of weeks. I and another Investigator went to investigate a case of continuous sightings over Lake Julian, NC. When we arrived we spoke to the witness and a couple of family members that had also had strange sightings. We decided to take photos of the area where they had previous sightings. While we were there a couple of the people with us saw strange lights. We were not able to determine what they were, but we are not able to call them UFOs either. The following photos are 30-second exposures that we took between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM on February 10th, 2012. These are some of the photos, and we are confident that they are not lens flares. Please note, we did not see any of these objects when we took the pictures. We only noticed the objects after the pictures were reviewed.

We did not see this object while taking the picture, but noticed the classic UFO object when reviewing the image. IMG_1739.JPG

This picture was taken only 30 seconds after the previous image. The object did not show up on this photo. IMG_1740.JPG.

We are not sure what this is. This could be a plane, but we did not see the plane while we were taking this picture. Picture IMG_1781.JPG

This was the most shocking of the pictures. We did not see this object but we immediately noticed it when the image was reviewed. This picture was taken at 8:57 PM. IMG_1791.JPG

This video was taken by the witness on January 28th, 2012. Although it does not show the same object, the objects in the video were viewed from the witnesses home.

Here is another video from the Asheville area. This was taken on January 25th 2007. We have not contacted the witness who shot this video.

I am glad to announce that the next MUFON NC meeting will be held in Fayetteville, NC on January 28th at the Bordeaux Branch Library (3711 Village Drive Fayetteville, NC 28304 910-424-4008). At this meeting we will have a well-known North Carolina Experiencer, Chris Bledsoe. Many of you will remember him from the Discovery Channel documentary, "UFOs Over Earth - The Fayetteville Incident". The video link can be found here. The meeting will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. After the meeting we are going to the restaurant Sammios Italian Restaurant (3057 N Main St Hope Mills, NC 28348). We plan to be there from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. After dinner we are having a Sky-Watch near the location where Chris Bledsoe had his abduction experience. Let's see if we can repeat the sighting we had at our last Sky-Watch in Hickory. You can read the full details  here.

The History Channel filmed an episode on Dr. Roger Leir. Dr. Leir has removed over a dozen alleged alien implants. Watch the video below for full details.

First of all, I want to thank everyone that came to the MUFON meeting in Hickory. It was  truly a great honor for us, the MUFON investigators, to meet all who attended. We recognize that it took some courage to attend the meeting. It takes even more courage to share your story with us and others. Usually meetings are attended by people who have had sightings. Our meetings serve as an opportunity for like-minded people, with similar experiences, to come together to meet and find comradery.

We are having our next meeting in Hickory, NC at the Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on November 5th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The address is below. This time we will run the meeting a little differently.

Artist and Ufologist Budd Hopkins died in August at age 80.  He was a talented and successful abstract artist as well as a pioneer UFO abduction resercher.  His books give us insight into the lives of abductees and his discoveries set the standards for addressing abduction.  His memoir is titled "Art, Life and UFOs" and is the story of his incredible and complex life.  To learn more about Budd Hopkins go to
