As everyone on this list would know, on Tuesday evening September 19, 1961 Betty and Barney Hill were abducted while driving through northern New Hampshire on their way home from a trip to Montreal, an event lasting into the early hours on Wednesday.
For a quick brush up on the basic facts go here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_and_Barney_Hill_abduction http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/932989-196/new-hampshire-couples-claim-of-ufo-sighting.html and for a just released book on this incident http://www.anomalistbooks.com/book.cfm?id=24 The Hills were able to recognize the spot the abduction had occured after making several trips back to the area and this past July the state government of New Hampshire placed a historical marker on the site. I give them a lot of credit for doing that and I plan on visting it some day; it's on my UFO's "to-do list" So take a minute of time today in observance of the beginning of the modern abduction era, and its profound impact on future researchers such as Budd Hopkins, David Jacobson, John Mack, Walter Webb and others. The Hill abduction kicked it all off. Although there were the contactee reports of the 1950's and a few abduction cases in other countries reported before this, the Hill abduction was the first widely reported abduction case in the US and its significance shouldn't be forgotten.
